Don’t accumulate the garbage of others
Sometimes people get caught up in a bit of nonsense — idle talk, rumours, or speculation about others. It can start off harmlessly enough: a passing comment, a funny story, or an update about someone who isn’t present. Whether or not we’re personally affected by it, the habit of repeating such things often slips under the guise of being “social,” “informative,” or simply “sharing.”
What do you think?
In recent years, many valuable studies have revisited the great philosophers of the past and the lessons they offered.
Rainbows, Unicorns and other fanciful things
Human beings have long been fascinated by dreams—not only the fleeting images and stories we experience while asleep, but the deeper revelations they sometimes bring.
Become a prospector!
We all enjoy looking back on past experiences with a sense of satisfaction. It’s a good feeling to think, I did well — and others appreciated it too.
Adjusting my thoughts
I often begin my meditations by aligning my thoughts — setting a clear inner intention or reminding myself of the state I want to maintain. But this raises a deeper question: Why only then? Why limit this mental alignment to just the beginning of meditation? Why not strive to maintain it throughout the day?
Predestination - do it or don’t do it
The idea of moving backwards and forwards through time isn’t new—Hollywood has long explored it through films like The 13th Floor, Predestination, and Looper.
What is it time for?
Globally, unrest is hitting it’s peak. What’s changed in the world? Why are we now so uncomfortable with everything?
What to do?
Achieving inner peace is intricately connected with two key elements: granting oneself permission (to be peaceful) and organizing one's internal world.
Engaging spiritual intelligence
Discovering spiritual intelligence is about moving beyond your limited awareness through meditation practise and understanding how to shape a fulfilling life.
Meditation practice
Meditation involves a gradual process of bringing the awareness of soul back to one’s self.
Is it just me?
Am I wasting my time trying to make others into a version of myself? It’s much easier to look outwards than to keep my attention on me. But that’s ego for you.
Challenging your shadow
For the most part, we struggle with our defects with limited success. If we can last for a day without drowning in negativity its a job well done. However we underestimate our powers.
Wilton wetlands
Well, that’s a stretch perhaps. Still, the dam and environs does host a variety of animal and bird life. Among them some fairly skittish water hens.
Victory in defeat
The garden is not only a source of nourishment but inspiration for artistic expression. Every season we’re presented with a new variety of flowering plant.
For the garden
Everyone knows a healthy garden needs nourishment just like we do. We’re in the process of growing our own veggies here and to that end we have created a couple of growing environments.
Volunteers - the backbone of service
Many times on the completion of our retreats we offer participants the opportunity to volunteer for future events or for outdoor help like gardening and maintenance. If you benefit from a service why not be an encouragement to others.
The thief of time
It’s funny how when we want something we think we’re going to enjoy we get busy in preparation and anticipation of attaining it. But when it comes to doing something that will bring significant change or benefit in our lives we put it off.
